As Director of Marketing and Events I have the honor of promoting this special place, planning events, and welcoming you all back to Gravatt. Scott McNeely recently wrote, “I love the people. The Gravatt Community is made up of thousands of individuals who share a common thread – Gravatt has made a profound impact on our lives. There’s an incredible magic here, a unique ability to bring us together.” I find great joy in welcoming people back to Gravatt, but also am excited to welcome people for the very first time. Like many of you, I am filled with pride when someone new falls in love with this special place. We do not have fancy accommodations; we have fancy hospitality. We care for others and offer a peaceful space in a hectic world.
A “look between the pines” into my role at Gravatt, you will learn that I do not walk the grounds of Aiken County each day. I enjoy meeting with my colleagues at Gravatt several times a month, but I largely work from my home in Columbia and meet with friends of Gravatt, vendors, clergy, and others. Many of the words you read on social media and in From the Pines originate from my laptop. I don’t always take the pictures but enjoy gathering images of Gravatt to share with you all.
I realized as a young adult that I love to host people and events. Personally, I find great joy in preparing an event for others. What a gift it is to be able to do this job at this place. Gravatt now hosts five events annually along with other special one-time events. We work to keep these events inviting and fresh each year while holding on to lasting traditions.
I invite you to mark your 2025 calendar with Gravatt Events – Women Need Women, Friends of Gravatt Oyster Roast, Under the Tent, Gravatt Fishing Tournament, and Alumni Weekend.
